JOB : Lecturing Post, History, Wits

The Department of History has a well established reputation for producing scholarship of international quality and for intellectual excellence, leadership and relevance. It has a lively and rigorous postgraduate and undergraduate teaching programme.

We seek to fill one permanent Lectureship position.

Commencement date : 1 May 2017

Qualifications & Experience :

PhD required. University teaching and postgraduate supervision experience as well as published articles in accredited journals will be an added advantage. We want to appoint an Africanist who will contribute to the development of the Department’s teaching and supervising capacity, with a special, but not exclusive, interest in West and/or North African history. The applicant should be willing to teach beyond their own area/s of expertise.

Duties : Teaching and developing undergraduate and postgraduate courses, postgraduate supervision, regular activity in research and publishing, and administrative responsibilities.
