Europe-Africa Relations – Border Crossings In and Out of Africa

The Center of International Studies of ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, member of AEGIS, and a partner of a consortium of 3 EU Universities (ISCTE-IUL Lisbon, EHESS and IMAF Université de Paris, Università di Napoli L’Orientale Naples) within the frame of an ERASMUS Lifelong Learning (LLP) Project, is pleased to announce the opening of the selection phase for students interested in receiving a grant to participate in the short Intensive Programme (IP) entitled : “Europe-Africa Relations – Border Crossings In and Out of Africa” to be be held at ISCTEIUL, Lisbon, Portugal, from July 7th to July 18th, 2014.

The IP offers a lively forum of discussion on the subject of border and culture crossings in and out of Africa, in a multidisciplinary perspective. The teaching modules will focus on the insertion of Africa in the contemporary world system, and on migrations and social movements set in the historical and present interactions between Africa and Europe.

This IP is addressed at postgraduate (MA and PhD) students interested in international and migration studies, and in African-European relations, wishing either to follow a high quality research career or to act professionally as experts on cultural activities, of international relations, relief and development work, in all sorts of public and private organisations, government, international agencies and NGOs. It will enable them to be facilitators in current cultural, social and political interexchanges
of people, goods and ideas.
